To delete the configuration of your computer:
Sign in to WLM
Click on the arrow to the online, busy, away, etc. Select "Options"
Click the "General"
Uncheck "Automatically Restart the Windows Live Messenger to connect to Windows"
Click "OK"

A much simpler:
Click Start
Click Run
Type msconfig
Start, click
then turn off or disable the Messenger program.
To uninstall WLM
Click "Start"
Click "Control Panel"
Click the "Add or Remove Programs"
Scroll to the Windows Live Messenger
Now you can click Remove to uninstall the program.
Then restart the computer.
